SSS professional attends 1st National Conclave for Laboratories

The first ever National conclave for laboratories was organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and National Accreditation Board for testing and calibration Laboratories (NABL) on the 4th and 5th April, 2012 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. The conclave was well attended by over 200 delegates from India as well as the SAARC countries.

Dr. Rashmi Naidu, Director (Technical Services) from REACH Support, the technical support centre to SSS attended the event and was also a faculty in the conclave. Her presentation in the conclave was on “Testing opportunities in chemical safety” wherein she presented the various regulations that the Indian industry shall have to comply with, in the days to come and the testing opportunities that these regulations presented for the Indian laboratories. The presentation was very well received by the audience which mostly comprised of representatives from several government laboratories as well as the private laboratory service providers.

Many of the representatives wanted to know about the details of the test requirements within these regulations so that they could assess their existing capacities and identify the areas in which they could expand their scope of services and where they needed to build infrastructure to cater to the demands of specific test requirements.

The conclave ended with CII and NABL inviting all the stakeholders to come together and form an association of laboratories so that capacities could be developed for multiple testing services and also to market India as a destination for “Credible Laboratory Practices”.
